PUTRAJAYA (July 18): The pilot project for the country’s online property auction platform e-Lelong for court auctions of immovable properties will be officially launched on July 27.

The launch of the e-Lelong pilot project will be held at Kompleks Mahkamah Kuantan, Pahang, according to the Chief Registrar’s Office of the Federal Court of Malaysia (CRO).

The launch will be officiated by Tan Sri Md Raus Sharif.

Deputy Chief Registrar (Policy) Datuk Aslam Zainuddin told TheEdgeProperty.com that the e-Lelong portal has gone live since June 1, 2017.

“We are launching the pilot project in Kuantan because that is where our e-Lelong Operations Centre is stationed,” he said. Foreclosure cases that are registered after June 1 at the Kuantan High Court will be auctioned online.

“So far we have received 27 foreclosure cases to be auctioned online via e-Lelong. This pilot project is to test the system and make sure everything runs smoothly before we expand the system to the other states in Malaysia,” he added.

The e-Lelong pilot project was initially scheduled to be launched on March 29 but it was deferred to resolve certain technical issues, the then-Registrar of the High Court of Malaya Sabariah Othman had told TheEdgeProperty.com on March 30.

Earlier on March 15, 2017, a Practice Direction No. 1/2017 had been sent out to Senior Assistant Registrars and Deputy Registrars of the High Court of Malaya, comprising an introduction to e-Lelong, the procedure of hearing foreclosure applications and the conduct of public auctions of immovable properties via electronic means in the High Court of Malaya.
