KUALA LUMPUR (Aug 17): Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission officers today conducted a search at the office of Land Public Transport Commission (SPAD) chairman Tan Sri Mohd Isa Abdul Samad at Jalan Stesen Sentral here in relation to the MACC’s investigation into cases related to Felda Investment Corp (FIC), Bernama reported today.

Mohd Isa, who was chairman of Felda and later Felda Global Ventures Bhd before his appointment as chairman of SPAD, is being held under five-day remand order after he was arrested on Tuesday over the probe.

Mohd Isa was believed to have been brought to the office by MACC officers to obtain important documents in relation to the case, the New Straits Times reported.

MACC chief commissioner Datuk Dzulkifli Ahmad said the search at Mohd Isa’s SPAD office was a normal process following the arrest of an individual for alleged corruption.

The MACC also confirmed that they have conducted searches at Mohd Isa’s houses in Linggi, Port Dickson; Lavender Heights, Seremban; and Bandar Baru Nilai, Bernama reported.

Investigations are being carried out by the graft busters over the purchase of two hotels by FIC in Kensington, London, and Kuching, Sarawak.

The MACC has so far called up 29 witnesses for questioning over the hotel deals.

Five people including a former chief executive officer of FIC had also been detained for questioning.

“The investigating officers are working hard on the cases and we will determine whether any other action needs to be taken. I do not want to comment further,” Dzulkifli told reporters after witnessing the taking of an anti-corruption pledge at the International Islamic University of Malaysia.
