Layang Layang is a town within the Kluang district in the state of Johor. Layang Layang is located approximately 72 kilometres north of Johor Bahru and 32 kilometres south of the Kluang district.
Layang Layang town is not to be confused with Layang-Layang Island in the South China Sea (or better known as ‘Swallow Reef’) which is situated around 300 kilometres north of Labuan Island, off the coast of Sabah.
Layang Layang town’s economy revolves around agriculture and oil palm plantations. In fact, there are still numerous plantations owned by big corporations as well as individuals. Despite Layang Layang situated away from the main trunk road, its existence is predominantly due to the availability of rail connectivity in this sleepy town.
