Y Cantonments

PETALING JAYA (April 6): The Yeangs Sdn Bhd has introduced its 20-unit Y Cantonments four-storey town villas development for retirees and bigger families who are looking for properties on Penang island, with selling prices from RM2.28 million.

Chairman Datuk Ken Yeang told TheEdgeProperty.com the project has a gross development value (GDV) of RM78.06 million and is slated for completion by the end of July this year.

The built-ups of the town villas range between 3,617 sq ft and 4,779 sq ft with selling prices averaging RM750 psf.

“We are targeting big families with senior citizens who do not want to live in landed homes anymore in Penang. Since its launch in October last year, Y Cantonments has seen 35% of its units being taken up,” he said.

The 3,938 sq m development is located at its namesake Jalan Y Cantonments in Penang.

Each town villa comprises five bedrooms, private gardens, a private glass lift and an individual plunge pool.

Y Cantonments“A private elevator is so immensely useful for the older generation. In Y Cantonments, the private lift in each unit is large enough to fit a wheelchair and also the people who are pushing it,” Yeang explained.

Another major selling point of Y Cantonments is the interior design of the town villas, which are designed by Yeang and world-renowned shoe designer Datuk Jimmy Choo, who is also one of the unit owners.

He said besides the high quality fittings, the development also embraces the green home concept with each unit equipped with vertical plants (green wall), rainwater harvesting, passive cooling (cross ventilation) and a roof garden which enables natural lighting.

“People will start to appreciate residential developments with the green home concept when they realise that these features will help them to save energy and water,” Yeang added.

He noted that Y Cantonments is five minutes away from the amenities in Pulau Tikus, such as shopping centres and food stalls at Jalan Gurney, the wet market, as well as schools and hospitals.

On the market outlook, Yeang said Penang has been named as one of Asia’s most liveable cities by global consulting firms for its amenities and unique culture. This will continue to attract buyers from other places to purchase a property and stay in Penang.
