UEMKUALA LUMPUR (April 15): UEM Sunrise Bhd’s managing director and chief executive officer Anwar Syahrin Abdul Ajib is taking a leave of absence from the property development group for personal reasons, with its parent’s group managing director Datuk Izzaddin Idris assuming his duties in the interim.

In a filing with Bursa Malaysia, UEM Sunrise said its board of directors had granted Anwar temporary leave from his post beginning April 16, “to allow him to focus on his personal matters”. The filing did not state as to when he is expected to be back.

“In the interim, the board of the company has resolved to re-designate Datuk Izzaddin Idris, the group managing director and chief executive officer of UEM Group Bhd, as executive director to perform the duties and functions of the managing director and CEO of the company,” said UEM Sunrise.

The stock was unmoved at RM1.10 at market close today, valuing the company at RM5.04 billion. theedgemarkets.com
