KUALA LUMPUR (Nov 16): Sime Darby Property won the HR Asia Best Companies to Work for in Asia 2015 (Malaysian chapter) award on Nov 13 at the Intercontinental Hotel in Kuala Lumpur.

The award recognises and honours corporations that display high levels of employee engagement and outstanding workplace cultures.

“We are proud of this recognition, as it validates our efforts in making Sime Darby Property a great company to work for. We always regard employees as our greatest asset and key to maintaining the company’s competitive advantage,” said Sime Darby Property acting managing director Datuk Jauhari Hamidi recently.

Sime Darby Property human resource and administration head Ammar Ghazali accepted the award from HR Asia during the ceremony.

Key to Sime Darby Property’s success is the ability to attract and develop talents. For the company, good succession planning involves more than just a replacement planning process. It also includes a comprehensive employee development scheme.

The company also has policies that cover recruitment, training and development, labour practices, human rights and workplace safety.

“Employees are given the opportunity to learn new skill sets, while the company helps them to grow and move forward in their careers by providing holistic talent development interventions,” said the company.

“We believe in providing equal opportunities to all of our employees. We are committed in fostering strong individual and organisational performance, which focuses on talent and leadership development along with identifying, attracting and retaining talent,” Jauhari added.

The HR Asia Best Companies to Work for in Asia awards were judged by a panel of industry experts, academics, journalists, and government representatives based on the HR Asia employee input survey report and the employee engagement survey. An executive summary as well as the report and comparative chart of the surveys of each qualified participant were presented to the judges.

“This is one of the most scientific and extensive surveys on employee engagement and workplace practices in this region. Through this survey, HR Asia has discovered that many of these companies – both local and international – have workplace practices that are on par with the best in the world,” remarked HR Asia publishers, Business Media International, group editor-in-chief Datuk William Ng.

Sime Darby Property is the property arm of Sime Darby Bhd and has built 21 townships and developments across the globe.
