Datuk Edmund KongKUALA LUMPUR (Nov 4): Tropicana Corp Bhd announced that Datuk Kong Woon Jun (pictured) has resigned as the group's managing director (MD) effective Dec 5 this year.

In a filing with Bursa Malaysia today, the property developer said Kong, 52, resigned as he wanted to pursue other career opportunities.

The company did not give details of Kong's successor.

"The board of Tropicana extends its sincere appreciation to Kong for his contribution and services to Tropicana Group and wishes him the very best in his future undertakings," Tropicana said in the filing.

Kong was appointed as an executive director of Tropicana on March 1, 2011 and was promoted to deputy group MD on March 1, 2013.

On March 14, 2014, he was promoted to the position of group MD.

According to the filing, Kong has more than 26 years of experience in property development and construction industry. He started his career as a senior architect in BEP Arkitek Sdn Bhd, in charge of high-end property developments in year 1994.

He served as the director of project and product planning of Perdana Parkcity Sdn Bhd from year 2003 to 2008, where he played a major role in the planning and designing of the township called Desa ParkCity, Kuala Lumpur.

With his experience in township master planning, he was actively involved in concept master plan and product design for the projects under his supervision.

Prior to joining Tropicana, he joined TA Global Bhd in April 2008 as the director of planning and design and was then promoted to chief operating officer in August 2008.

Shares in Tropicana closed unchanged at 97 sen, for a market capitalisation of RM1.39 billion. -- theedgemarkets.com
