KUALA LUMPUR (Jan 20): The Federal Land Development Authority (Felda) and Encorp Bhd today entered into a Memorandum of Agreement (MoA) to develop an integrated township in Melaka with a gross development value of RM3.2 billion.

Under the MoA, Felda and Encorp are nominating Encorp Bukit Katil Sdn Bhd as the master developer of the township. Encorp Bukit Katil is a wholly-owned subsidiary of Encorp Bhd.

“This is an exciting step forward. Encorp will now be in a good position to become more competitive and we have big plans for Encorp to become a key player in the property development industry,” said Felda and Encorp chairman Tan Sri Haji Mohd Isa at a press conference today.

Also present at the signing ceremony were Felda director Datuk Hanapi Suhada and Encorp executive committee chairman Datuk Haji Zakaria.

The yet to-be-named township will sit on a 640.98-acre leasehold tract in Bukit Katil, Ayer Keroh, Melaka. It is a nine-minute drive from Ayer Keroh toll plaza and 18 minutes from Bandar Hilir Melaka.

Construction of the 3-phase development will start in 1Q2017 and is expected to be completed in 14 years.

The massive project comprises a 307.67-acre residential development, which will include bungalows, semi-Ds, landed strata, townhouses, link houses, apartments and affordable homes; and a 76.92-acre of commercial development of shop offices, commercial plots and petrol kiosks among others.

The remaining 256.39 acres is reserved for public amenities, such as schools, hospital, mosque and police station.
