PETALING JAYA (Sept 28): One of the largest global independent corporate services providers, Vistra Group, has established its first Business Process Outsourcing (BPO) Centre of Excellence (COE) in Iskandar Puteri, Johor Bahru to support its operations in Singapore and Southeast Asia, the group said in a statement today.

According to Vistra, the regional operation centre in Iskandar Puteri will represent a six-figure investment in the region over the next five years and is expected to grow into one of their largest centres.

“This is a significant strategic move for Vistra in Southeast Asia. I’ve been impressed with the progress and development in Iskandar Puteri, which in my view offers a good balance of cost competitiveness, world-class infrastructure and a highly-skilled talent pool.

“Strategically located within Medini, the new central business district of Iskandar Puteri is only a 45-minute drive from Singapore’s Central Business District. We are confident that this expansion presents solid business opportunities for Vistra and will help drive our operational efficiency and growth in the region,” said managing director of Vistra Singapore Chris Burton.

“We envision Iskandar Puteri as the next thriving business services hub and we are pleased to have Vistra on board leveraging Iskandar Puteri’s unique proposition as the world’s best nearshore to Singapore,” said managing director of i2M Ventures Sdn Bhd Zulfiqar Zainuddin.

i2M is a wholly-owned subsidiary of Khazanah Nasional Bhd that manages the GBS (Global Business Services) Iskandar programme, a specialised programme dedicated to facilitate companies in locating their GBS to Iskandar Puteri in the southern state of Malaysia.

In a document exchange ceremony between i2M and Vistra held during the Malaysian Investment Forum in Kensington, London, Zulfiqar added that Vistra’s BPO COE in GBS Iskandar is testament that Malaysia’s fundamentals remain strong in the Asean region.

For 2016, i2M has attracted £250 million (RM1.344 billion) worth of investments from local and multinational companies who set up their operations in Iskandar Malaysia, creating 2,300 high-value jobs.
