Lavile Kuala Lumpur

PETALING JAYA (Aug 24): Property developer Orando Holdings will be rewarding Rio Olympics silver medallist Datuk Lee Chong Wei with a condominium unit worth RM1.5 million from its Lavile Kuala Lumpur development in Taman Maluri, Cheras

Others may look in envy at such a reward but Orando Holdings managing director Datuk Eng Wei Chun said the property is not just a reward, but also a recognition of the hardship and sportsmanship displayed by Malaysia’s top shuttler.

Datuk Eng Wei Chun“I watched the Olympics men’s badminton final game last Saturday. He tried very hard to win a gold medal for Malaysia. I’m touched by his fighting spirit, which I describe as the Datuk Lee Chong Wei spirit,” he told TheEdgeProperty.com .

“I volunteered to reward him a unit and hope this will encourage other entrepreneurs to do the same thing for other medal winners,” said Eng.

He noted that Lee was an interested buyer of Lavile Kuala Lumpur and he had visited the Lavile Kuala Lumpur showroom before he departed for Rio de Janeiro, Brazil, for the Olympics.

“We had a short chat after his viewing session — Lavile’s strategic location and freehold title as well as the mixed-use development concept were what attracted him,” he explained.

Situated on a four-acre site, Lavile Kuala Lumpur has a gross development value of RM1.2 billion and is slated to be completed by 2020.

The development comprises four blocks ranging from 38 to 49 storeys housing 1,300 residential units and over 20 retail units. The residential units have built-ups of between 750 and 1,100 sq ft.

Eng said the company plans to launch Lavile Kuala Lumpur next year.
