Four Seasons Hotel Kyoto

PETALING JAYA (June 30): The Four Seasons Hotel in Kyoto — developed by Kyoto Higashiyama Hospitality Assets TMK, a 50:50 joint venture between Berjaya Corp Bhd and Berjaya Land Bhd — is scheduled to hold its grand opening in Dec 2016, said Berjaya Corp in a press statement today.

The soft opening of the hotel — a part of the Four Seasons Hotel and Hotel Residences integrated development — is scheduled in mid-October.

“We expect Four Seasons Kyoto to perform very well in the future with high tourist and business arrivals into Japan. Foreign tourist arrivals to Japan have been experiencing double digit growth and have reached record highs in the past few years and this augurs well for our hotel as we expect this trend to continue into the 2020 Summer Olympic Games in Tokyo,” said Berjaya Corp founder Tan Sri Vincent Tan.

The project was handed over by its main contractor Taisei Corp to Kyoto Higashiyama Hospitality Assets TMK, a subsidiary of Berjaya Kyoto Development (S) Pte Ltd that is in turn a 50:50 joint venture by Berjaya Corp and Berjaya Land Bhd.

The total cost of the project was US$380 million, including land cost, and it will be managed by Four Seasons Hotels and Resorts.

The Four Seasons Kyoto occupies a 20,433.55 sq m site in the historical core of Higashiyama-ku, and is within walking distance of tourist sites such as the Myohoin Temple, Sanjusangendo Temple, Kyoto National Museum, Toyokuni Shrine and Kiyomizu-dera Temple.

The entire project has a gross floor area of 34,632.55 sq m and comprises 123 hotel rooms and 57 hotel residences.

Its facilities include function rooms, food and beverage outlets, swimming pool, fitness gym, spa, sundry shop and parking bays.
