KUALA LUMPUR (Oct 24): Datuk Heah Kok Boon has been appointed as a non-independent and non-executive director of Eco World International Bhd (EWI), replacing Datuk Chang Khim Wah, 59, who has resigned to focus on his executive role in Eco World Development Group Bhd (EcoWorld), effective Monday (Oct 23).

According to a filing by EWI with Bursa Malaysia on Monday, Heah, 56, is currently the chief financial officer of EcoWorld and the alternate director to Tan Sri Liew Kee Sin, the executive chairman of Eco World Malaysia.

He has over 34 years of experience in audit, corporate finance and corporate investment.

Prior to joining Eco World Malaysia, Heah worked with S P Setia Bhd as the head of corporate affairs. He joined Eco World Malaysia in May 2013, and has played a pivotal role in steering various corporate initiatives aimed at expanding the Eco World Malaysia Group, including structuring the reverse takeover endeavour that led to the establishment of EcoWorld, as well as spearheading the initial public offering of EWI on Bursa Malaysia Securities Bhd.

Following the successful listing of EWI, he was appointed as a board member of EWI from April to September 2017.

Heah started his career in the audit department of KPMG. Thereafter, he joined the corporate finance department of Aseambankers Malaysia Bhd (now known as Maybank Investment Bank Bhd), and left as an executive vice-president.
