• The Property Awards singled out Battersea Power Station for its grand public opening in October 2022, delivering 254 apartments, 565,000 sq ft of office space and over 100 shops, restaurants, bars and unique leisure experiences, positioned inside the landmark.

KUALA LUMPUR (June 16): Battersea Power Station has been awarded ‘Developer of the Year- Commercial Property’ at the prestigious 2023 Property Awards in London, for the transformational restoration of the Grade II listed landmark.

Celebrating the biggest achievements in commercial property over the past 12 months, the Property Awards singled out Battersea Power Station for its grand public opening in October

2022, delivering 254 apartments, 565,000 sq ft of office space and over 100 shops, restaurants, bars and unique leisure experiences, positioned inside the landmark, stated Battersea Power Station Development Company Limited in a media release.

The judges for the awards also highlighted Battersea Power Station’s “commitment to opening as much of the landmark to the public as possible, and providing a major boost to the local community”.

Battersea Power Station has created 2,500 jobs directly from the opening of the Power Station and Electric Boulevard, a new pedestrianised high street, and a total of 20,000 new jobs are expected once the 42-acre neighbourhood is complete.

The developer has also connected Battersea Power Station to the rest of central London through the delivery of the Northern Line Extension, following the opening of the Zone 1 Battersea Power Station Underground station in September 2021.

Since opening in October 2022, Battersea Power Station has welcomed nearly six million visitors and its success will continue with more retail openings this summer, and new parts of the development completing later this year.

A 24,000 sq ft Arcade Food Hall, BAO, and Bounce Ping Pong will be opening later this year, joining the recently opened LEGO® and neighbourhood pasta restaurant, Noci.

A new state-of-the-art office space, 50 Electric Boulevard, is due for completion later this year, providing 200,000 sq ft of flexible commercial space with wellbeing and frictionless smart tech at its heart, as well as a new collection of 204 apartments, Koa at Electric Boulevard.

“We are delighted to have received this coveted award at the Property Awards, which is a testament to the decade of hard work that has made this project such a success. Battersea Power Station could never have been transformed without extensive collaboration between the UK and Malaysia, public and private sectors, and every level of government.

“We look forward to progressing the next phases of the development to achieve future milestones, cementing Battersea Power Station as a place for everyone,” said Tan Sri Jagan Sabapathy, chairman of Battersea Project Holding Company.
