KUALA LUMPUR (Nov 25): London is the city with the most beautiful homes in “all of Europe” based on a study of image sharing site Pinterest.

According to a study by Alan Boswell Landlord Building Insurance of Pinterest, it tallied “up all the pins and boards which pay homage to a city’s housing and architecture, to definitively rank which European and UK cities have the most beautiful homes.”

Experts from Alan Boswell Landlord Building Insurance noted that “users can ‘pin’ particular images or links that they find appealing, or if they are particularly enamoured with a certain theme or subject they can set up boards dedicated solely to them”.

And they concluded that London recorded “a whopping 68,531 pins, twice as many as the next most pinned city”, making UK’s capital No 1 with the most beautiful homes in Europe.

“There are also 653 boards dedicated to the city’s outstanding architecture. This leaves it with an aesthetic home score of 9.81.”

The Pinterest rankings of the Top Ten European cities with the most beautiful homes with go like this: No 1 London, 2 Berlin, 3 Paris, 4 Amsterdam, = 5 Rome, = 5 Naples, = 7 Athens, = 7 Venice, 9 Barcelona, 10 Madrid.

Of note is Italy with three cities on the list (Rome, Naples and Venice) and Spain’s two (Barcelona and Madrid).

Alan Boswell Landlord Building Insurance stated that London’s top spot is due to variety of architecture in the city.

“From the English Baroque style buildings which rose up across London in the wake of the Great Fire, to the slick modern stylings of today’s new builds, across the city there is something for everyone,” it stated.

Another factor is the wealth of the city. London is one of the richest cities in the world, “and is by some barometers the most affluent city in Europe. An outrageous 272,400 millionaires call the city home,” wrote the insurance firm.

“With money no object for some, interiors within the luxury flats and apartments of London are some of the most ostentatious and eye-catching around. Images of such opulent interiors will understandably appeal to the Pinterest fanatics,” it added.
