UOA Group launches Komune Living & Wellness

KUALA LUMPUR (May 13): UOA Group has officially launched Komune Living & Wellness, an integrated co-living and wellness facility located in Bandar Tun Razak, Cheras.

In a press statement on Wednesday, general manager Mark Chen shared that the purpose of Komune Living & Wellness is to create a safe and engaging environment for the seniors.

“Our objective with Komune Living & Wellness is to create a safe and engaging community for seniors, where they can age actively with all the facilities and support they need to maintain both their physical and mental well-being,” 

As he adds that senior care living changes over time depending on their age and wellness: “ This is why Komune Living & Wellness has been designed to support retirees at different steps on their ageing journey. We can provide a ‘hotel-like’ environment and experience for independent and active seniors, as well as the medical care and assistance which may be required by others,” said Chen.

Chen also noted that there are stigmas associated with old folks home in Malaysia whereby children are unable to take care of their parents. 

“We understand that there can be some stigma or guilt associated with the idea of putting parents into care, due to old stereotypes of what senior care is. That is why we have deliberately set out to create a new concept of senior care based on world-class facilities, in an environment which enables seniors to have fun, build new friendships and connections,” said Chen.

With the option to choose between Independent Living Studios or Assisted Living Studios, overall, the project features 791 co-living units with eight types of layout from studio rooms, two-bedroom studios and one-bedroom suites. The built-up of the rooms ranges between 173 sq ft to 573 sq ft. 

Pricing starts from RM2,100 per month for Independent Living Studios while the Assisted Living Studios starts from RM6,800.

The project provides over 20 different amenities and facilities for residents and guests across 40,000 sq ft space dedicated to wellness and community activities. 

Some of the indoor facilities include heated swimming pool, jacuzzi, gaming rooms, KTV rooms, movie theatre, specially equipped gymnasium, activity studios, community living room, community kitchen, community dining area and laundrette.

For the outdoor facilities, there is a swimming pool, outdoor gym, rooftop farm and direct access to the 99-acre park next door, Taman Tasik Permaisuri. 

This is not the first time UOA has ventured into the co-living business; they have operated a co-living project called Komune Living situated in Bangsar South. 

However, this project marks the group’s foray into the wellness facility segment, in which they intend to continue the direction of integrating wellness facilities in future pipelines.
