KUALA LUMPUR (July 28): Residents of Menara Pinang in Kuala Lumpur are being kept awake by the noise coming from the road works along Jalan Pinang and Jalan Kia Peng that have been going on and off over the years, reported The Star.

The news report, quoting one of the residents, said the road works normally start after 10pm and last until 4am and have affected their sleeping hours. The resident said numerous reports have been made to Kuala Lumpur City Hall (DBKL) but no action has been taken.

“The loud noises from heavy machinery and even shouting are keeping residents awake… Some of the work is being carried out by contractors of utility companies,” Menara Pinang’s property manager Song Su-Yi told the English daily, adding that the road works did not stop even during the full lockdown period.

Song noted that the authorities should restrict any construction works beyond midnight, especially when there are residential buildings near the site.
