KUALA LUMPUR (Nov 26): The Ministry of Health (MoH) announced six new Covid-19 clusters today, with total infections of 95 in these clusters.

Among the six new clusters, two were detected in Tawau, Sabah. They are Bot Biru cluster with 17 confirmed cases and the Block 31 cluster with 13 cases.

The other new clusters are:

Gemilang cluster in Johor Bahru, which has 26 cases

Sungai Udang construction site cluster in Kepong, Kuala Lumpur with 11 cases

Chengal cluster which spans Kota Bharu and Machang in Kelantan (15)

Damar Laut cluster involving Timur Laut and Barat Daya in Penang and Padang Terap in Kedah (13).

MOH has detected 345 clusters since the pandemic began in January.

“About 172 clusters have been declared as officially ended including the Tuguson cluster and the Seri Gaya cluster,” said MoH director-general Tan Sri Dr Noor Hisham Abdullah in a statement.

Both the Tuguson and Seri Gaya clusters were detected in Sabah.

Dr Noor Hisham noted the number of infections in several clusters has increased to a new high level, for instance the Bakti cluster and Cergas cluster which were identified in Negeri Sembilan as well as the Enggor cluster in Perak.

The Bakti cluster recorded 95 cases, the Cergas cluster had 48 and the Enggor cluster had 43.

Malaysia reported 935 new Covid-19 cases today, pushing the tally of infections to 60,752. However, the daily recoveries number stayed at above 2,000-level at 2,555, lowering the latest tally of active cases — which carry high transmission risks — to 11,348.

To date, 110 patients are being treated in intensive care units, with 45 needing ventilators.
