PETALING JAYA (Sept 13): 1 Utama Shopping Centre has officially launched its 1PAY E-wallet and online shopping portal ONESHOP.com.my. It is the first retail mall in Malaysia to develop its very own digital E-wallet and E-Commerce platform.

The launch today was officiated by director of 1 Utama Shopping Centre Tan Sri Datuk Teo Chiang Kok, Finance Minister Lim Guan Eng and Malaysia Digital Economy Corporation (MDEC) chief operating officer Datuk Ng Wan Peng.  Also in attendance was Member of Parliament for Damansara Tony Pua.

The 1PAY E-wallet is an enhancement of 1 Utama’s existing loyalty programme ONECARD Privileges. With 1PAY, users need only scan and pay with their E-wallet while earning instant ONECARD loyalty points known as UPoints.

The E-wallet allows up to a maximum of RM1,500 cash balance to be stored. Other features include options to link debit/credit cards/bank accounts, top-ups, receiving and transferring to other E-Wallet users and E-Voucher rewards.

Besides 1 Utama, 1PAY can also be used at participating merchants in Bandar Utama including those at One World Hotel, Centrepoint and The Club.

Meanwhile, ONESHOP is the first online shopping website in the country featuring tenants of 1 Utama.

“2019 has been an eventful and exciting year for us at 1 Utama. We pride ourselves in constantly achieving industry firsts and setting retail standards.

"Currently, we have 25,000 1PAY immediate users. Our target is to achieve 50% of our ONECARD membership base to use 1PAY by December 2020,” said Teo at the launch ceremony at 1 Utama.

1 Utama Shopping Centre was awarded the Gold at EdgeProp Malaysia’s Best Managed Property Awards 2019 in the 10 years and above retail category.

Since 1PAY’s roll out in March 2019, 30% of 1 Utama retailers have signed up for 1PAY and the mall hopes to achieve 80% to 90% participation by December 2020.

Lim in his speech said the new 1PAY and ONESHOP services are in-line with the nation’s 10-year plan of migrating Malaysia into e-payments and becoming a cashless society, with the support of a strong domestic retail industry.

"We hope to see more retailers embrace this shift so that more Malaysians can enjoy an easy, secure and reliable payment method besides cash transactions,” said Lim.

From Sept 13 to 16, 1 Utama will be hosting a Launch Roadshow to promote both 1PAY and ONESHOP.

And from Sept 27 to Oct 3, ONESHOP will be participating in Malaysia’s online sale FPX #MYCYBERSALE ASIA organised by MDEC and PIKOM.
