PETALING JAYA (Aug 18): Federal Territories Minister Khalid Samad said the special task force report on 64 parcels of land that were dubiously transacted by Dewan Bandaraya Kuala Lumpur (DBKL) have been given to Prime Minister Tun Dr Mahathir Mohamed to review ahead of his five-day trip to Hangzhou, China.
The task force, which included representatives from DBKL, the ministry and officials chosen by Khalid, had completed its investigations into the deals and gave its recommendations on how to approach each case, he said in a report by The Star.
The recommendations include cancelling deals and offering refunds, continuing the deals or seeking better terms and conditions, he said.
Khalid said the prime minister will make a decision on the transactions when he returns.
This investigation did not involve the Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC), which will investigate the land deals on their own to find elements of corruption, he said.
The land transactions involving 424 acres o land worth RM4.28 billion were done without going through open tenders from 2013 to 2018.
