PETALING JAYA (March 16): A train trip ended up longer than expected for some city folk this morning when the door of a KLIA Transit train heading to KL Sentral failed to work properly.

KLIA Express Rail Link Sdn Bhd (ERL) said in a statement that the KLIA Transit’s 7.16 am train on the way to KL Sentral experienced a door malfunction, resulting in all services from terminal stations being temporarily stopped.

“It was supposed to be a brief stop, but the train just came to a halt and after 10 minutes, an announcement came, informing passengers that there was a technical problem.

“Some passengers then got out of the train, which was packed, and waited on the platform.

“Later, we were informed that another train experienced malfunctions and the passengers from that train were then transferred to our train. The train service resumed at 8.45 am,” a passenger identified only as Noor, 33, told Bernama.

ERL launched a combined services for both KLIA Ekspress and KLIA Transit services from 9 am, Bernama reported.

“Both services have resumed normal operations since 9.30 am, with the first normal departure for KLIA Transit from KL Sentral at 9.33 am and 9.40 am for KLIA Ekspres.

“From klia2, the normal departure for KLIA Ekspres was at 9.35 am and KLIA Transit, at 9.48 am,” ERL said.

ERL apologised for the inconvenience caused, reported Bernama.
