KUALA LUMPUR (March 23): Malaysia Building Society Bhd (MBSB) made multiple appointments to its board of directors effective yesterday.

In a statement yesterday, MBSB announced it has appointed Sazaliza Zainuddin as a non-independent non-executive director, and Datuk Johar Che Mat and Lynette Yeow Su-Yin as independent non-executive directors.

Sazaliza, 44, received his Bachelor in Accounting and Finance from Southbank University, UK and obtained his ACCA in the United Kingdom.

“His previous employment was as senior manager at PricewaterhouseCoopers since 1997. He then joined Employee Provident Fund (EPF) in 2006 as head of accounts section, finance and subsequently held several senior positions. Currently, he is head of internal audit EPF,” the statement read.

With 34 years of banking and finance experience Johar, 64, has served Maybank Group since 1976 until his last position as chief operating officer in 2010.

“His past directorships include EDRA Global Energy Berhad, Bank Pertanian Malaysia Berhad, Amanah Raya Group, Etiqa Insurance, Maybank Trustee Berhad, Proton Holdings Berhad, Proton UK and Lotus Pension Trustees Limited UK. He is currently on the boards of KBES Berhad and Rural Capital Berhad,” it said.

Lynette, is a lawyer by profession and also a member of the Malaysian Bar.

Currently, Lynette is a partner at Chua Associates, Advocates & Solicitors and is on the panel of mediators, Securities Industry Dispute Resolution Center (SIDREC) and previously, was a partner at Kadir Andri & Partners and Zaid Ibrahim & Co.
