KUALA LUMPUR (March 1): Matrix Concepts Holdings Berhad (Matrix) has inked a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) with Changhua Christian Hospital, Republic of China (Taiwan) (CCH) for the proposed establishment of a medical and specialist healthcare service provider in Bandar Sri Sendayan, Negeri Sembilan, to be known as Matrix Global Specialist Center (MGSC).

In a filing with Bursa Malaysia today, Matrix said with the execution of the MOU, both itself and CCH have agreed pursuant to the terms of the MOU, to jointly establish a Joint Working Group (JWG) for the review, feasibility study, construction and development of MGSC.

It said the MOU shall take effect from today for a period of 6 months, with the option to extend its validity to a further 6 months, subject to a mutual agreement for such extension.

Matrix said the MGSC, if established, shall be the first hospital to incorporate start-of-art development to be built in Bandar Sri Sendayan, to cater for the current population of more than 30,000 residents, with a future target of more than 120,000 by 2022.

“At this juncture, the establishment of MGSC is still in the midst of in-depth study by JWG, with the final costs and commitment of both parties to be finalised in due course,” it said.

Matrix said CCH is an established medical and specialist healthcare service provider in Taiwan.

“The CCH’s medical network has about 6,800 members and 3,600 beds providing full range of specialty departments, with specialists in medicine, nursing, medical technology and management, providing healthcare services to around 13,000 outpatients per day and 25,000 emergency cases per month,” it said. — theedgemarkets.com
