West Lake Gardens

JOHOR BAHRU: Eco World Development Group Bhd (EcoWorld) has officially opened a 33-acre public park known as the West Lake Gardens town park at its Eco Tropics township in Kota Masai, Pasir Gudang, Johor.

In his speech at the opening of West Lake Gardens this evening, EcoWorld chairman Tan Sri Liew Kee Sin said that the developer is proud and excited to offer a beautiful community space to be cherished by residents of Pasir Gudang.

"It has been our goal to turn this area into a much sought after address in Johor Bahru. We spent RM14.5 million in creating West Lake Gardens," said Liew who hails from Johor.

With the efforts put in by EcoWorld since two years ago, the residents in Kota Masai and Pasir Gudang can now enjoy a better living environment and quality of life, said Johor Menteri Besar Datuk Seri Mohamed Khaled Nordin, who officiated the opening at EcoWorld Gallery @ Eco Tropics this evening.

"We have to ensure that all our developments are able to conserve the surrounding environment and enhance the well being of its residents," he said.

West Lake Gardens is one of the largest parks in the state and boasts a scenic lake as well as gazebos, gardens, outdoor gyms and playgrounds. The park also features a smart design that makes it a reservoir for rainwater, which will be collected and reused to water the many landscaped areas in the township.

EcoWorld president and CEO Datuk Chang Khim Wah noted that the developer's efforts to improve the Kota Masai locale in Pasir Gudang have had a positive impact on its image and property values, resulting in more people keen to call this area home.

The 991.6-acre Eco Tropics is a mixed township with a gross development value of RM5.4 billion. It features homes that are inspired by the architecture of The Hamptons resort on Long Island, New York.

Being the first gated and guarded development in the area, the project was launched in 2015 with Greensgate in the Living Gardens Series, followed by its second phase dubbed Millsgate.

The take up rate for both phases is about 70% to date, said Chang. With a total of 2,500 units, the Living Gardens Series consists of five precincts.

By this year end, EcoWorld will bring in Tesco into the Eco Tropics commercial zone, which will comprise shop lots and light industrial factories. A primary school will also be introduced in the township.
