Overview

Cyberjaya, located in the district of Sepang, Selangor is a town with a science park as the core, forming a key part of the Multimedia Super Corridor (MSC) in Malaysia. Officially opened in 1997, this town aspires to be known as the Silicon Valley of Malaysia. Covering 7,000 acres of freehold land, it consists of four main zones: enterprise, commercial, institutional and residential. Today, Cyberjaya is equipped with a host of intelligent network services and a variety of facilities of world-class standards amidst rich natural surroundings.

Cyberjaya has seen extensive building activities over the years under Setia Haruman Sdn Bhd, the master developer of Cyberjaya, which is responsible in ensuring its proper planning and development. Currently, over 600 MSC Status companies operate from here including Dell, HP, HSBC, Ericsson, Motorola, BMW, IBM, and Shell IT, making it a rapidly growing township. Government agencies here are the Malaysian Department of Public Services, Ministries of Education and Human Resource, and Sepang Municipal Council.

As of February 2017, the township has plenty of high-rise residential and landed developments. High-rise residential and integrated developments include Shaftsbury Square, Serin Residency, Crystal, Pangea, Arc,D'Melor, and Cyberia smart homes whilst Symphony Hills, Garden Residence, Summer Glades, Mirage by the Lake feature landed houses. 

Garden Residence is considered the most strategic landed property here since there will be two MRT stops. Nonetheless, a firm contender is Setia Eco Glades, a gated-and- guarded residential enclave comprising two-storey linked villas, island villa suites, and two-storey semi-detached homes with green features such as eco-friendly paint, rainwater harvesting and LED lighting features. A dedicated interchange makes this luxury enclave the nearest gateway to five major highways: Maju Express Highway (MEX), North South Central Link (ELITE), Damansara-Puchong Highway (LDP), B15 Road Extension through Dengkil and South Klang Valley Expressway (SKVE).


Amenities and Facilities

As a pioneer green township, 48% of Cyberjaya’s land is reserved for public amenities and greenery. Also, it is the first city to implement low carbon strategies in Malaysia through several measures including emerging SMEs, District Cooling System, Green Buildings and Solar Power. Most of the infrastructure in Cyberjaya is well planned ahead. It was specified with extensive and intensive fibre optic cabling. Hence, most residential areas have access to hi-speed fiber-optic internet.

Besides primary and secondary schools, there is Sek Seri Puteri, a national secondary full boarding school for girls. For higher education needs, Multimedia University was first built as a centre of learning and research for MSC. Others are Limkokwing University of Creative Technology, University Malaysia of Computer Science & Engineering, Cyberjaya University College of Medical Sciences, Cyber Putra College and Kirkby International College.

Cyberjaya has a police station and fire station. Other public amenities comprise a recreational park, a community club, the Sports Arena offering outdoor sports facilities including a go-kart circuit, and in sum, 700 free parking bays. The Cyberjaya Lake Gardens is a 400-acre green lung popular amongst locals.

D’Pulze Shopping Centre, the first mall here, caters to grocery, household, and entertainment needs with Jaya Grocer, ACE Hardware, MPH, and the soon-to-be-opened TGV Cinemas.

 

Accessibility and Transportation

This global tech hub of Cyberjaya is connected to KL and Klang Valley via a network of highways and expressways: North-South Expressway Central Link (PLUS), Damansara-Puchong Highway (LDP), Maju Expressway (MEX), Expressway Lingkaran Tengah (ELITE), North Klang Valley Expressway (NKVE) and South Klang Valley Expressway (SKVE). The MEX Highway connects KL to Cyberjaya in 20 minutes. The ELITE Link and NKVE takes one from Cyberjaya to Port Klang in an hour whilst the LDP serves a vital link to Taman Tun Dr Ismail, Damansara, SS2, Kelana Jaya, Subang Jaya and Puchong. SKVE forms the major expressway from PLUS to Cyberjaya.

KLIA Ekspres and KLIA Transit are train services to Cyberjaya and Putrajaya (via KLIA Transit). Due to their closeness, they share a station in Putrajaya and feeder buses take one to Cyberjaya. Plans are underway to build two new Mass Rapid Transit (MRT) stations here. Additionally, the KL-Singapore bullet train under the High Speed Rail will have a stop here.

Cyberjaya’s bus terminal is Cyberjaya Transport Terminal. Taxis are available here. Further, the Dedicated Transportation System (DTS) or shuttle bus service runs 24 hours daily to nine routes: KL Sentral, Terminal Putra LRT Gombak, Terminal Bersepadu Selatan (BTS), Kepong, Klang Parade, Seremban, Kelana Jaya, Shah Alam, and Summit (Subang Jaya). This eases commute for the Cyberjaya working community who live outside Cyberjaya.
