Overview

Pudu is situated right in the heart of Kuala Lumpur. Located along Pudu Road, Pudu is adjacent to Pasar Road (or Jalan Pasar) which is well-known for shops selling electronic components and devices. Pudu also has one of the largest wet markets, the Pudu Market, in Kuala Lumpur.  Malaysia’s oldest bus station which was built in 1976, Pudu Sentral which was previously known as Puduraya Bus Station, can also be found in Pudu along Pudu Road.

Pudu also used to house the infamous Pudu Jail. Built on the site of a former Chinese burial ground, the Pudu Jail which was synonymous as the landmark of Pudu. It was closed in 1996, and was then used as a museum for a short period of time. In June 2010, the prison complex’s eastern wall was demolished for a road widening project and the prison complex itself was mostly demolished in 2012.
